Tristan is an abolitionist, purpose-driven leader, and human rights activist committed to equity, innovation, and combating modern slavery and unjust incarceration in America and across the world. With a strong foundation in social impact and clear organizational development, Tristan has worked across education, philanthropy, and grassroots activism to empower underserved communities and confront institutional injustice. Previously served as an assistant supporting managing directors and partners within Goldman Sachs Asset Wealth Management division in New York City. Tristan also worked as a development associate at GallopNYC and JSSA helping fundraise for special needs children with disabilities and frail elderly people with chronic healthcare illnesses at the end of life. ​ With critical thinking and collaborative leadership, and an unwavering dedication to justice, Tristan plays a key role in leading the USASO and international initiatives that bridge policy, storytelling, and educational global peaceful community organization action. ​ Gettysburg College '20 St. Andrew's Episcopal School ​ ​

Ben Tingle

Director

Ben is a former CIA and NSA intelligence business manager. He is a transformation leader and strategic advisor with a proven track record across the public and private sectors. A former senior consultant at McKinsey & Company, Ben has been serving as an independent critical advisor, partnering with organizations navigating complex transformations across industries including technology, financial services, biotech, and the public and social sectors. With deep expertise in strategy development, operating model design, organizational design, tech optimization, change management, and customer experience, Ben is passionate about helping organizations evolve and thrive amid disruption. His human-centric approach to transformation is grounded in real-world experience and a pragmatic understanding of what drives sustainable change. Before entering the world of management consulting, Ben served as Chief Operating Officer of a defense contractor, where he led the company through a tenfold growth trajectory and oversaw all core business functions—from operations to finance, HR, and compliance. Ben started his career in the U.S. Federal Government, holding pivotal roles in organizational management. As a business intelligence manager and later an advisor during a White House transition, he developed a strong foundation in national security, economic policy, and cross-agency strategic planning.  Today, Ben combines his private-sector insight with public-sector experience to advise on the intersection of technology, national security, and public policy. He is very passionate about the role of artificial intelligence in public policy and he continues to contribute thought leadership in this rapidly evolving space.

Beverly is a Professor at the University of the District of Columbia, a nationally recognized Educational Consultant, and a leading Equity and Diversity Specialist with over three decades of experience transforming systems and advancing equitable practices within education. She has been at the forefront of professional development for educators, administrators, parents, and students across the United States and Canada. Her work centers around culturally responsive education, closing the achievement gap, and building inclusive learning communities.  Beverly brings deep expertise in team-building, diversity awareness, effective communication, cultural literacy, sensitivity, self-discovery, and student family engagement. A former classroom teacher and middle school administrator,  she holds four certifications in Special Education as well as a secondary principal’s license. Beverly's respect and admiration for those dedicated to the well-being of children are reflected in her tireless commitment to equity and professional excellence. She has delivered transformational training in over 20 states, including Arizona, California, New York, Texas, Virginia, and Minnesota—and has been invited to work with numerous organizations, including: District of Columbia State Board of Education, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (Office of Water, Science, and Technology), Blue Cross Blue Shield, Loudoun County Government & NAACP, The HOPE Foundation, George Mason University, George Washington University, Indiana University, University of Central Missouri, Augsburg College, and others. Richard was a Local Principal lawyer in Baker McKenzie’s Dispute Resolution and International Arbitration Practice Groups, based in Singapore. He trained and practiced for eight years in the Firm’s London office before relocating to Asia in 2016. He is pursuing his doctorate at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies currently. ​ Richard has extensive experience advising clients across industries such as oil, gas, construction, mining, financial services, and consumer goods on complex cross-border disputes and international investment matters. His practice spans commercial and investment arbitration, litigation, and public international law, often involving government actions affecting foreign and direct investments across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and South America. He was a member of Baker McKenzie’s Energy, Mining & Infrastructure and Industrials, Manufacturing, Transportation Global Industry Groups, in which Richard represented Fortune 500 global clients in major critical arbitration and adjudication proceedings involving energy projects, post-M&A disputes, and sovereign immunity issues arising from their contracts with local and national governments, state-owned enterprises, as well as financial institutions. ​ During his time in London, he managed the Firm’s pro bono relationship with the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) and contributed to several landmark human rights cases before the UK Supreme Court and European courts.

Bernadette Agano

Chief Advocacy Officer

After surviving human trafficking and Slavery, to leading the fight against it, Bernadette shares her incredibly powerful journey of transformation and advocacy for justice. In her work with Free the Slaves in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Bernadette has directly empowered fellow survivors, influenced policies, and helped build a global national survivor network. Her own incredible personal story overcoming Slavery in the 21st century, is a clear testament to resilience, solidarity, and the urgent need for action in the fight against all forms of modern Slavery. ​ Almost every single smart phone, computer, electric battery, has cobalt or other critical minerals mined by Child Slaves in Congo. The entire supply chain is dirty and multi-national corporations and governments have knowingly been taking advantage of the situation for decades. As a survivor leader advocate, Bernadette is here to make a powerful statement for peace, justice, freedom, and liberation. By helping end Slavery and unjust incarceration in America, and advocating for human rights, she understands the implications that the USASO will have internationally on a global scale.  ​ Bernadette has had the privilege not only to have a seat at the table, but also to bring chairs for other survivors. From participating in forums, actively contributing to survivor recommendations for inclusion in the Alliance 8.7 roadmap, and activist training in the Survivor Leadership Academy, the pathway is now open for other survivors, and for people from all walks of life, to follow courageously in her footsteps, and to join the fight against modern Slavery.

Growing up in South Africa during apartheid, he witnessed firsthand the realities of systemic oppression—an experience that shaped his lifelong commitment to justice, reconciliation, ethical governance, and freedom from exploitation. These values strongly inform his leadership and align with USASO’s mission of peace, unity, and transformative change. Ruan currently serves as Senior Director, Governance at Marriott International, where he leads governance frameworks across Marriott Business Services, strengthening compliance, financial reporting integrity, and process efficiency in support of enterprise-wide financial planning and reporting. Known for his innovative approach, he leverages technology and partnerships to streamline complex financial operations while upholding rigorous standards of accountability and decision-making. Previously, Ruan held senior financial leadership roles across Marriott, including Director of Financial Analysis for Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy, where he built financial planning and analytic capabilities for a new global business segment, and Director of Financial Reporting and Analysis, overseeing GAAP-compliant reporting and balance sheet governance for a $6B+ enterprise. He began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers, progressing to Manager, and holds degrees in Accounting from the University of Pretoria and the University of Johannesburg. Sunbul Ahadi

Chief Research Officer

Sunbul leads national and international research efforts to end modern Slavery, advocate for human rights, and support evidence-based abolitionist policies. Born and raised in Afghanistan, Sunbul’s journey to Gettysburg College embodies her courage, resilience, and an absolute lifelong commitment to justice. She has helped guide students in academic research and critical inquiry. She is an activist, using her digital platforms to advocate for women’s rights around the world.  Working with the Afghanistan Peace & Justice Organization, the Eisenhower Institute, and the Seashore Trolley Museum, she developed multimedia storytelling and research skills that have strengthened her human rights work today. Sunbul’s leadership at USASO reflects her belief that education, research, and activism must work hand in hand to build a more just and free world. Her courage and compassion continue to inspire others to join the fight for true abolition and equality.

Through his leadership, the YEC has launched impactful programs such as Trailblazer Networking on the Beltline and the NeXtGen Wealth Building Summit, designed to promote collaboration, fitness, and intentional wealth creation among young professionals and business owners. As the Founder and Executive Director of Afrikan Unity Initiative, Inc. (AUI), Lee has established a global framework for social, cultural, and economic collaboration across the Afrikan Diaspora. AUI’s flagship campaign, Bringing the Neighbor Back 2 da ’HOOD™, focuses on rebuilding trust and civic pride within underserved communities through grassroots engagement, urban revitalization, and cultural celebration. Eli is an accomplished nonprofit and public policy professional from Charleston, West Virginia. Most recently, Eli graduated from the University of Pittsburgh's School of Public and International Affairs, where he studied for a Master of Public and International Affairs and majored in Human Security. ​ Before this, Eli received his first graduate degree from Central European University in Budapest, Hungary, where he received a Master of Arts and was in a joint program between Economics and International Relations. Eli's nonprofit experience includes two non-consecutive years as an AmeriCorps Service Member at a day shelter in his hometown, contract work at a reproductive justice nonprofit, administrative work with American Jewish World Service in Washington, D.C., and policy work with Pittsburgh's local workforce development board. He is a beacon of hope and resilience and has earned global recognition for his unwavering commitment to combating labor trafficking and advocating for the rights of survivors. In 2023, the United Nations honored him with the prestigious ‘Human Rights Hero Award’ at their headquarters in New York. This esteemed accolade acknowledges Harold’s remarkable contributions to the field of human rights and his dedication to eradicating modern-day Slavery. Adding to his illustrious list of honors, Harold D’Souza was also bestowed with the esteemed ‘2023 Human Rights Trailblazer Award.’ This recognition celebrates his exceptional Survivor Leadership, deep concern for the welfare of fellow humans, and unparalleled commitment to the global fight against labor trafficking. Harold’s journey has been one of transformation, from a survivor of labor trafficking and debt bondage in the United States to a Survivor-Advocate and Public Speaker. His story is a testament to the indomitable human spirit, and it has given him a renewed purpose and meaning in life. As a co-founder of Eyes Open International, a non-profit organization dedicated to developing prevention efforts through survivor-informed research, Harold has become an inspiration worldwide. He is also an active participant in various anti-trafficking organizations and efforts, including serving on the Board of Directors for ‘Justice at Last.’ In recognition of his tireless efforts, Harold was appointed to the United States Advisory Council on Human Trafficking by President Barack Obama in 2015 and continued his service under President Trump through July 2020. He also serves as an expert consultant to the Department of State’s Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons. Harold’s advocacy extends far beyond American borders. Tyler brings an elite-level discipline, global perspective, and strategic creativity to the United States Anti-Slavery Organization's mission for justice and freedom. A former Division I athlete and international professional basketball player, Tyler has demonstrated excellence at every level of competition. He was a top-15 prospect in Maryland’s Class of 2016 (ESPN), he earned a Division I scholarship to Binghamton University before transferring to Saint Francis University, where he helped the program reach an NEC Championship appearance. He was a MAC Champion in 2015 and earned All-Conference honors in 2016. Following college, Tyler competed professionally across Europe in premier leagues, including Iceland, Austria’s Superliga, and Hungary. His international career shaped a global outlook on leadership, performance, and development—values he now applies to both athletic mentorship and social impact work. Beyond competition, Tyler is deeply committed to youth development and empowerment. He is a Basketball Skills Developer at SPARC, founder of Quality Reps Basketball, and currently serves as Head Coach of the St. Andrews Episcopal School JV program, where he is also a proud alumnus. His work emphasizes discipline, confidence, accountability, and purpose—on and off the court. As Chief Marketing Officer of USASO, Tyler leads brand strategy, creative storytelling, and outreach efforts to amplify survivor voices, mobilize communities, and advance the fight to end modern Slavery and human rights activism.
